The Blaster worm (W32.Blaster.A and its variants) targets a security issue related to the Remote Procedure Call (RPC) function that Microsoft addressed with a released security update. Blaster targets computers with out-of-date software, and those computers remain at risk of infection until the update is installed.

1. Click on Start, Run
2. Type in services.msc
3. Under Name look out for Remote Procedure Call (RPC).
4. Right Click Properties. Then click on the Recovery Tab and set First Failure, Second Failure and Subsequent Failures to TAKE NO ACTION.
Turn off System Restore.
Then Download and Run STINGER.EXE from http://vil.nai.com/vil/stinger/
Download Run the Microsoft Malicious Software removal tool from
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=AD724AE0-E72D-4F54-9AB3-75B8EB148356&displaylang=en
After the virus is removed Download and Run the Windows xp Security Update for Blaster worm from
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=2354406c-c5b6-44ac-9532-3de40f69c074&displaylang=en
Reboot the system and Turn On System Restore.
